“Asociatia Pro Consumatori” (APC), significant meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Commerce People’s Republic of China
Asociatia Pro Consumatori (Pro Consumers Association, well-known as Romanian Association for Consumers’ Protection – APC, a Founding Member of the Romanian Distribution Committee, President Costel Stanciu being an Honorary Member of the Romanian Distribution Committee) and the European Consumer Center in Romania had a meeting with Geng Hongzhou, Deputy General Director of Market Supervision Department of the Ministry of Commerce People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of the official visit to Romania.
It was a constructive meeting confirming the preoccupation for a more positive impact for consumers in today’s increasingly globalised and digitized world, solving consumers’ problems by inviting consumers to be part of the solution, in order to improve consumer experience.
Asociatia Pro Consumatori (APC) is continuing to confirm the ability to reach its role of independent campaigning voice for Romanian consumers, by focusing on the shared concerns of consumers within Romanian society at large and by constantly covering the complex area of expectations from business in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility. Founded in 1990 to promote the interests of its members, as well as those of individual consumers in a period of profound and multifaceted market changes, APC’s aims are to represent consumers and lobby for better consumer protection and better enforcement as well as promote more transparent markets and ensure the quality of goods and services, by informing, giving advice, educating consumers about their rights and advocating equality for all consumers. APC was recognized in 2005, by the Romanian Government, as a public utility organization and as an important actor in the social dialogue. APC is a member of BEUC (Bureau Européen des Unions de Consommateurs), and is also playing an active role in: Consumers International (CI, the world federation of consumer groups), the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD), European Consumer Consultative Group (ECCG, the European Commission’s main forum to consult national and European consumer organizations).
