On the occasion of the February 2018 works of the General Assembly of the Association of Faculties of Economics in Romania (AFER), which took place at the Training Center Complex Predeal “Ion Gh. Roșca” of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Valeriu Ioan-Franc has been elected as Member of the Academic Council of AFER.

A senior researcher at the National Institute of Economic Research (INCE) of the Romanian Academy, Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Valeriu Ioan-Franc is Member of the European Academy of Business Administration and Management [Madrid], Founding Member of the Barcelona Economics Network (BEN), International Economic Research Network of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences.

AFER is widely recognized as a true platform for debate on the necessary evolution of economic higher education development in relation to its key function. AFER is proving a growing culture of assessment and measurement in education, research and innovation, putting a new emphasis on the economic contribution of higher education to economic and social life and the need to work multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and trans disciplinary. AFER has shown consistently strong focus on providing graduates with updated knowledge and practical skills required in the modern workplace, and a framework for their continued development, constantly stimulating the critical and creative thinking, the ability to find, to access, to evaluate and to use information in order to solve complex problems faced by entrepreneurs aware of the implications of the actions initiated and of the complex decisions in a competitive business environment specific to the relevant markets at the confluence of globalization and integration.

The President of AFER, Professor Nicolae Istudor, Rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), was one of the Editors of the Volume “Pages from the Romanian Economic Higher Education History, 1843-2013.
